Isn't life a miracle? I remember each of my pregnancies and the incredible miracle it was to give birth after nine months of anticipation. What a honor it is to grow a human life that was created out of love two people share. The days, weeks, months and years after that are pretty incredible too. When Daryl and I were engaged we talked about having a family one day. He wanted six kids (that terrified me) I wanted four. As time went on he decided that four was a good number. Not because our four were hard, quite the opposite. There is a lot that goes into raising a family, their needs are both financial  and emotional. Our desire to be the best parents for our children was not a new concept. I believe every couple wants their children to experience life to the fullest. When you hold your newborn baby for the first time you realize this little human life is now completely dependent upon me. There is nothing quite like that little newborn cry. It's nice to be remembered on your birthday because after all that is the day you came into this world. You have made one more rotation around the sun so to speak, hopefully you are wiser and of course it is a great to be with loved ones who care about you on your special day. A friend came to visit me about a month after Daryl had transitioned from this life. (I have decided that I really don't like the word died, or even passed away) I was having a hard day. I was really sad. I was missing him and confused about how to connect with him now. It all seemed so final. She said to me, "you will feel him and you will see him in the details of your life and your girls. Remember... to our Father in heaven Daryl has always existed and he still does." Those words were and still are very comforting to me. We decided to head to one of Daryl's favorite places on his birthday this year. The Lake! May 11, 2018  My family and I recently returned from Peru. A trip we planned over a year ago, actually a trip that has been in the works for years. Daryl served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints there from 1981-1983. He was able to visit Machu Picchu at least a half a dozen times while he was there. We were able to celebrate Daryls 50th birthday together roaming around the same streets and areas he had been as a young missionary 31 years earlier. I remember him saying, "If you think the Wasatch mountains are magnificent and beautiful wait until you see the Andes." He was right! We took a train from Cusco to Machu Picchu, along the way we saw people hiking and I was so jealous, I wished we had done that. We talked about coming back with our family one day and doing that hike. We were going to return when all of our girls were married.
